Consider treatment with clear aligners (like Invisalign® and 3M® Clarity) with Dr. Sheinis and the team at Shiney Smiles Orthodontics. We can give you beautiful straight teeth—without braces.

Dr. Sheinis is a certified expert in using clear aligners to provide effective and efficient treatment to create your perfect smile!

All About Clear Aligners

Clear aligner systems (like Invisalign® and 3M® Clarity) use a series of customized, clear aligners to gradually straighten your teeth with fewer office visits to our Huntington or Woodbury offices than traditional braces. They’re removable, nearly invisible, and customized by Dr. Sheinis for your unique teeth and mouth.

Clear aligners are much more comfortable than traditional metal braces and can give you stunning results.

When you come to Shiney Smiles Orthodontics for your free consultation at our Huntington or Woodbury office, we'll take photos and X-rays to create a 3D image of your mouth.

Dr. Sheinis will make your first set of custom-fitted aligners from these images and then you’ll begin the process of straightening your teeth.

You’ll probably wear clear aligners for 9–15 months, and will typically use 18–30 sets during your treatment with our Shiney Smiles team.

You wear the trays for about 22 hours a day as recommended by Dr. Sheinis, but can remove them to brush your teeth and eat. Based on your individual needs, you’ll wear several sets of trays throughout your orthodontic treatment at Shiney Smiles Orthodontics. You’ll start to notice a change in just a few months!

Differences Between Clear Aligners & Braces

Unlike traditional braces, smooth plastic clear aligners from Shiney Smiles Orthodontics don't have metal components that can irritate your mouth.

You’ll remove your aligners when you eat, so you won't have to avoid any foods like you would when wearing braces – bring on the popcorn and peanuts.

In fact, the aligners must be removed for eating and for drinking anything other than water.

You need to make sure you’re willing to do that before you decide on clear aligners from Shiney Smiles Orthodontics.

To prevent staining, you’ll need to clean your teeth after you eat before putting your aligners back in.

Of course, brushing and flossing are much easier with clear aligner treatment by Dr. Sheinis since you don’t have to work around any brackets and wires.

Responsibility of Clear Aligners

When it comes to treatment with clear aligners, there’s a lot to consider. Most clear aligners patients at Shiney Smiles Orthodontics enjoy shorter check-ups, fewer appointments, better oral hygiene, and fewer emergency visits.

However, this system's biggest pro can also be a con—the ability to take out your aligners anytime. Your cooperation is essential, whether you have braces or clear aligners.

Since braces are attached to your teeth, they do the heavy lifting to keep your treatment progressing. With clear aligners, you need to do a little extra work during your treatment so your trays can complete your treatment efficiently.

Like with traditional braces, you’ll generally need to wear a retainer after clear aligner treatment, as recommended by Dr. Sheinis, to maintain your new alignment—and your confident new smile.
